This is not the first NASCAR team to temporary layoff workers due to COVID-19, but was the first large scale layoffs of over 70 people.

North Carolina Governor, Roy Cooper issued a stay at home order on March 27th for all of North Carolina. The stay at home closures included the NASCAR race tracks and race shops in the state.

Races at Atlanta and Homestead were postponed on Friday. This extension includes Texas, Bristol, Richmond, Talladega, and Dover.

GMS Racing No. 23 driver Brett Moffitt is recovering from surgery following an accident Saturday on a motocross bike in which he suffered a fracture in both of his legs. Moffitt is in very good spirits and his doctors expect a full recovery. Rehabilitation is estimated to take up to six to eight weeks. GMS Racing wishes Moffitt a full and speedy recovery and looks forward to his return.

“NASCAR has decided to postpone the race events at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend & Homestead-Miami Speedway next weekend. We believe this decision is in the best interest of the safety & well-being of our fans, competitors, officials and everyone associated with our sport.”

“At this time, NASCAR will hold its race events at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway without fans in attendance. These events will be restricted to competitors, crews, officials and other necessary personnel to conduct the race. We will work with public health officials as we determine future scheduling beyond these events.”

Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) announced today that Brandon Jones, the most recent winner in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, will return to the organization for four races in the No. 51 Tundra during the 2020 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series season.

DGR-Crosley announced today that veteran NASCAR Cup Series driver David Ragan would join the team for the upcoming NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series race at Richmond (Va.) Raceway. Select Blinds, the leading online retailer of custom window coverings, will adorn the sides of Ragan’s No. 17 Ford F-150 at the historic venue as the Truck Series makes a return to the ¾-mile track after a 15-year hiatus.
