Matt Mills Returning to BJ McLeod Motorsports in 2022

BJ McLeod Motorsports (BJMM) announced today that Matt Mills will return to the organization for a sixth season. He will drive the No. 5 Chevrolet with support from anchor sponsor JF Electric.

The 25-year-old New Philadelphia, Ohio native has quietly become one of the longest tenured drivers in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS). Entering the 2022 season he has made an impressive 101 NXS starts and completed more than 15,000 laps. His career-best finish came in the Circle K Firecracker 250 at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, July 5, 2019, he finished 10th.

“Matt (Mills) has been an important part of the growth of our race team the last several years,” said BJMM owner, BJ McLeod. “He stuck with us through some growing pains and has helped make our organization better. I believe his commitment and hard work, with the addition of some key personnel will lead to success for Matt and the entire team.”

Established in 2016, BJMM is owned by NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) owner/driver BJ McLeod and his wife, Jessica. Since its inception, the Mooresville, N.C. based team has started over 500 NXS events. The team currently fields three full-time NXS entries. In addition to BJMM, McLeod co-owns Live Fast Motorsports, a full-time NCS team.

JF Electric and Utilitra have both committed to a multi-year extension with Mills and will return as anchor sponsors of the No. 5 Chevrolet.

The NXS season begins Saturday, February 19, 2022 with the running of the Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner. 300 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla. The race will be live on FS1 and MRN beginning at 5:00 p.m. ET.

In addition, Thompson Electric, a longtime supporter of Mills, will return as an associate sponsor.
