Former Cup Series Driver, Delma Cowart Dies at Age 80

Clinton "Delma" Cowart competed in 21 races in the NASCAR Cup Series for Heyward Grooms and H.L. Waters.

According to his daughter, Denise Cowart, former NASCAR Cup Series driver from 1981 to 1997, has passed away.

Clinton “Delma” Cowart competed in 21 races in the NASCAR Cup Series for Heyward Grooms and H.L. Waters. Delma failed to qualify for 59 races in the NASCAR Cup Series throughout his career.

His final start came at Talladega in 1992, where he finished 37th. He failed to make the next 20 races he attempted to start in until his retirement in 1997.
