NASCAR today announced the next installment of races in its return to racing, featuring events at Bristol Motor Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Martinsville Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. The slate of races include events in the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Series and the ARCA Menards Series.

The track annually host two races for the NASCAR Xfinity Series and one race each for the Gander RV & Outdoor Truck Series, the ARCA Series, and NTT Indy Car Series.

At its meeting on April 16, 2020, the Joliet Plan Commission considered a request by Hillwood Investment Properties (Hillwood) to subdivide a portion of the existing Chicagoland Speedway property, approximately 82.3 acres, for purchase from Chicagoland Speedway, LLC.

The Racing Insiders has obtain a copy of the Joilet, Illinois Planning Commissions meeting notes from its April 16th meeting. Commission was to talk about a new industrial development that will take over the Chicagoland Speedway, however that specific item was tabled to a future meeting.

NASCAR announced Friday afternoon three race tracks that will loose race dates in 2020 due to the COVID-19 disease. Sonoma Raceway and Chicagoland Speedway will both loose their one and only race date, Richmond International Raceway will loose their spring race date.

NASCAR handed down additional layoffs this past week primarily focusing on the staffing at Chicagoland Speedway.

"The ARCA Menards Series General Tire 150 scheduled for Friday, May 22 at Charlotte Motor Speedway has been postponed until a later date. We look forward to resuming our season soon and will share more details at the appropriate time."

NASCAR announced Thursday an initial short-term schedule, beginning with a NASCAR Cup Series race May 17 at Darlington Raceway, to mark the return to the track for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic brought sports to a halt in the middle of March.

NASCAR has released a planned race schedule to teams for the month of May and June once we go back racing.

"Since the beginning of the shutdown four weeks ago, we have kept our entire team on full pay while our properties remained dormant. In that time, it has become clear that we must be a more nimble, more efficient organization. As such, we have made the difficult decision to restructure our business and eliminate many duplicate positions."
