Southern 500 at Darlington Still Happening in September

"The Southern 500 is alive as well" according to Darlington Raceway President, Kerry Tharp.

“The Southern 500 is alive as well” according to Darlington Raceway President, Kerry Tharp.

NASCAR announced in April that the Cup Series would race twice in the same week at Darlington Raceway, starting on Sunday, May 17th.

The series was not planning any spring races at the historic race track this season; however, due to COVID-19, NASCAR decided to race at Darlington Raceway after state government allowed the races without fans to attend.

Although NASCAR will hold two events in May, they will return to the track for the NASCAR Throwback Week on Labor Day weekend for the Southern 500.
