Newman’s Injuries Released Following Daytona Crash, Plans to Race Again Soon

Steve Newmark, President of Roush-Fenway Racing announced before the NASCAR Cup Series at Las Vegas Motor Speedway the extent of Ryan Newman’s injuries earlier in the week following the rain delayed Daytona 500 in Daytona Beach, Florida.

“Newman suffered a head injury. No broken bones nor internal injuries” said Newmark

Jack Roush has assured Newman that the No. 6 car is his ride when he is ready to return the team will be ready.

“Our goal remains the same for Newman and that is to win the championship.” Newmark says “There is no timetable currently for Ryan Newman’s return”.

Newmark went on to say that the first call for the replacement driver was to Ross Chastain. Their arrangement with Ross is that he will be available for the coming weeks.
