Mark Simendinger Resigns as General Manager of Kentucky Speedway

Kentucky Speedway General Manager, Mark Simendinger has announced that he will be leaving his position after more than 20 years at the speedway.

“I think it’s time. I never thought I’d be here 20 years, and I think it’s time for a new challenge. I’m looking forward to what that might be – I don’t know specifically yet what that’s going to be. I think the time’s right for me to take on another challenge, and I’m looking forward to what that might be,” Simendinger told The Cincinnati Enquirer.

In September, Kentucky Speedway announced that the race track would not host any NASCAR races in 2021 following a schedule alignment to several new race tracks next season.

“I don’t know (about the Speedway future), but I can tell you what I hope is that NASCAR will return to Kentucky Speedway. I think the facility is fantastic, and, obviously, we’ve proven we can put on great events with great fan support. So, I’m hoping the schedule allows for racing to come back here.
