Kody Vanderwal Not Returning to Jimmy Means Racing in 2021

It was announced Sunday night that Kody Vanderwal would not return to Jimmy Means Racing's Xfinity Series team in 2021.

It was announced Sunday night that Kody Vanderwal would not return to Jimmy Means Racing’s Xfinity Series team in 2021.

“As we are closing in on the start of the racing season, it is becoming apparent that Kody will not be competing in the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series.” states a post on Kody Vanderwal’s facebook page.

“Jimmy Means had asked and wanted him to return as his driver; but after more than 3 years of trying to secure partnerships/sponsors, we have yet to obtain any full-time commitments. Unfortunately, we can no longer pursue this journey without one/some and Jimmy Means Racing was forced to seek out other options. We remain incredibly grateful for the many opportunities that Kody has had thus far in his racing career and are hopeful that he can keep chasing the dream in one form or another.”

Kody competed in 30 of the 33 races for Jimmy Means Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for 2020, who will announce a new driver later this week.

Kody comes from short track racing out of Colorado and competed for three seasons in the K&N Pro West Series prior to the 2020 season with a total of three victories.

Kody is planning to return to the short tracks of Colorado for 2021 in a brand new late model race car that was built over the offseason.

In summer of 2020, The Racing Insiders were able to catch up with Kody to talk about his racing carrer.
