Jimmie Johnson to Test Indy Car This Spring

Johnson will take laps at the Barber Motorsports Park with a car built by Arrow McLaren SP.

UPDATE: Jimmie Johnson will take part in the test on April 6, cording to NBC Sports.

ORIGINAL 3-5-20: After years of speculation that Jimmie Johnson might try Indy Car racing once he retires from full time NASCAR Cup Series racing following the 2020 season, it looks like he will get his first crack behind the wheel of an Indy Car this April.

“After driving that F1 car a couple Novembers ago, just blew my mind what that experience was like,” Johnson told Autoweek at media day before the Daytona 500. “IndyCar is an option. Sports cars. I could see a situation where the WEC series has an eight-race schedule, and there is a lot of weeks off with an eight-week schedule.
