GMS Racing Scaling Back to Two Truck Series Entries in 2022

GMS Racing will be scaling back from five full-time Camping World Truck Series entries in 2021 to only two full-time entries in 2022.

The changes for the team’s truck operation come from GMS debuting a new two-car team in the NASCAR Cup Series for 2022 that will be housed out of the GMS Racing team shop.

GMS Racing has already announced two new drivers for their Truck Series effort in 2022.

Grant Enfinger will race the team’s No. 23 truck with sponsorship from Champion Power Equipment. Jack Wood will race the team’s No. 24 truck.

GMS Racing will close the No. 2, No. 21, and No. 26 teams.

Former driver Sheldon Creed will move to Richard Childress Racing’s Xfinity Series team in 2022. Tyler Ankrum and Chase Purdy will move to Hattori Racing Enterprises in 2022. Zane Smith will move to Front Row Motorsports truck team in 2022. Raphael Lessard has not announced any plans yet for 2022.

It is unknown if GMS Racing had to lay off any employees ahead of the 2022 season due to the new team’s structure.
