Former NFL Linebacker for the San Diago Chargers, Shawne Merriman, nicknamed “Light Out” is looking to invest more in his driver, Jesse Iwuji as they plan to join the NASCAR Xfinity Series in the “near future.”
Jesse Iwuji, whose parents are immigrants from Nigeria, was born and grew up in Texas. He played defensive back for the U.S. Naval Academy before joining NASCAR in 2016 for the K&N Pro Series.
Merriman has been the team owner for Jesse in a total of 39 K&N Pro Series starts.
Iwuki also has 6 ARCA Menards Series starts, and 9 Gander RV & Outdoor Truck Series starts with Reume Brothers Racing.
No word when Merriman could move to the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Iwuji, but the team is looking for funding to make this happen.
