Chase Briscoe on Stand-by if Stewart-Hass Racing Cup Driver Gets COVID-19

Rodney Childers, Crew Cheif of the No. 4 Cup Series team talked on the Sirius XM Radio Program “Sirius XM Speedway” on what Stewart-Hass Racing will do if one of their drivers become ill with the COVID-19 disease.

“We have Chase (Briscoe) on stand-by if this happens to one of our drivers. We have his racing seat and belts in our haulers since Darlington in case this issue comes up,” said Childers.

“The 48 team (Jimmie Johnson) does not have to worry about getting the illness during the playoffs once that starts, so that is an advantage he won’t have to worry as everyone else does”.

Hendrick Motorsports announced last week Friday that Justin Allagier was planned to go into any of the NASCAR Cup Series rides at Hendrick Motorsports if any of their drivers were to fall ill.

Jimmie Johnson announced on Friday that he was diagnosed with COVID-19, and hopes to come back to the driver’s seat in the coming weeks.
