Rain Delay Puts Stress on Teams as they Prepare for Vegas

We have talked with several crew members in the NASCAR garage on the struggle that this rain delay has caused this team as they prepare to race next weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

“We are still working on what our plans are, we are really strapped for time, thankfully the cars are ready at the shop, but this will be a quick turnaround” a crew member from JTG Daugherty Racing told The Racing Insiders on Monday morning at Daytona Intentional Speedway.

The approximate drive for most of these teams from Daytona to Charlotte is eight hours long. After unloading their Daytona cars and equipment, and loading the Las Vegas cars and gear, the team will then take the hike to Las Vegas which is over 33 hours away.

NASCAR has a partnership with the City of Las Vegas for a NASCAR parade that will feature the NASCAR haulers driving down the strip which takes place on Thursday evening.

“The turnaround for us was already going to be crazy tight leaving Tuesday morning, now we will probably leave in the middle of the night Tuesday-Wednesday” said an equipment driver from Roush-Fenway Racing on Sunday.

Some teams including MBM Motorsports have said they already have started preparing secondary haulers that will make the trip to Las Vegas this week.
