Michael Self Leaving the ARCA Series to Become GM of TransAm Team

ARCA Menards Series driver Michael Self announced on Twitter Tuesday afternoon that he will be taking a General Manager role with Silver Hare Racing, a Trans AM race team based out of North Carolina.

“It’s a big day for me being able to share that I’ve accepted a role as general manager of Silver Hare Racing”. Self said in a Twitter post. “When I returned to college in 2016 I did so with intentions of learning how to run a race team. It was something I was always interested in”.

Michael Self will not race in the ARCA Series full time in 2021 but did not leave out a possibility of being in a driver seat in the future. Whether that would be a TransAm ride or an ARCA ride is unknown at this time.

“Thanks to everyone in the oval racing community for their support, guidance, and friendships!” Self said

Self has competed in 59 ARCA Menards Series starts in the last six seasons all for Venturinie Motorsports.

Over his ARCA racing career, he has collected 9 wins, including the last four ARCA races at Daytona International Speedway. In addition, Self collected 37 top-five finishes and 45 top-ten finishes with an average finish of 7.0 in his 59 starts.

Self finished runner up in the ARCA Menards championship driver standings the last two consecutive season’s.
