MBM Motorsports Announces Driver Line-Up for Daytona 500 and 2021 Plans

In a post-Friday evening, Motorsports Business Management (MBM Motorsports) team owner Carl Long announced plans for the 2021 NASCAR season.

“MBM is getting prepared for 2021. Timmy Hill, Chad Finchum, and Stephen Leicht are all set to return to MBM this year. Timmy and Chad both will be in Fords, trying to make the Daytona 500. Both also are set to drive in Xfinity as well.” the Facebook post read.

“We are planning on Timmy Hill running for the Xfinity points, while Chad (Finchum) will see more cup races. Stephen (Leicht) will do road courses and Nashville (in the Cup Series), then fill in where needed most.”

MBM Motorsports raced the No. 66 full time in 2020 with driver Timmy Hill, and the No. 49 part-time with Chad Finchum.

It is possible that MBM Motorsports might see two full-time teams in the Cup Series for 2021. Both without a Charter that guarantees them to make the race every weekend.

MBM Motorsports says they will apply for a new number replacing the No. 49 in 2021. The team mentioned some possible numbers could be No. 46, No. 72, No. 61, No. 67, or No. 13.

On the Crew Chief side, Patrick Magee will return as a crew chief for one of the MBM Motorsports rides. Clinton Cram and Mark Hillman will become new crew chiefs to the team.

Doug Richert will remain the Competition Director, Gary Showalter will be MBM Motorsports Shop Foreman, and “Rambo” will manager the fabrication department.

No mention of crew chiefs Sebastian Laforge, Steven Idol, or Adam Bell who were all part of the team in 2020.

MBM Motorsports will share the No. 61 Xfinity Series ride with Hattori Racing Enterprises full-time in 2021 similar to last season.

HRE will race select races (approximate 9-12 races) with Truck Series regular, Austin Hill, and MBM Motorsports will make up the remaining racing.

The team is looking for some additional sponsors in 2021, and looking for a driver / sponsor pair for the Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway.

Official announcements of the teams plans are expected in January 2021.
