Former Cup Series Driver Dr. Don Tarr Dies at 92

Former NASCAR Cup Series driver Dr. Donald Tarr has died on Friday, January 21rom Mountain City, Tennesse, at Cannon Memorial Hospital.

Tarr was born in Napa, California, but was raised in Africa before returning to the United States to attend medical school.

He started racing after becoming friends with Bobby Allison. Tarr’s first race was at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on August 6, 1976.

Tarr has 48 NASCAR Cup Series from 1967 to 1971, driving for several teams, but most prominently for his own team.
