Before the start of practice on Friday afternoon in the NTT INDYCAR Series at Nashville, NASCAR driver and son of team ower for Rick Ware Racing, Cody Ware, talked about some of the team’s plans for 2022, which could include a smaller role in NASCAR and a bigger role in the INDYCAR Series.
“We will definitely be back full-time next year (in INDYCAR); I am not sure how many cars yet, but we will defiantly see another RWR car in the INDY field for next year, not sure on driver lineup and what that would look like, but we are committed to building a brand,” Ware told YouTuber, David Land in a video interview.
“We want to continue to race in several forms of motorsports as well as stepping up our (NASCAR) Cup program for next year, so I think we will probably be going down to one or two cars in the Cup series next season, that way we can not only expand but also improve on what we are doing.”
Currently, Rick Ware Racing races four full-time teams in 2021 with various drivers, including Cody Ware, J.J. Yeley, James Davison, Joey Gase, Garrett Smithley, and Josh Bilicki.
Rick Ware Racing’s team in the INDYCAR Series is a joint effort with Dale Coyne Racing. They also use various drivers, including Cody Ware, Romain Grosjean, Pietro Fittipaldi, and Ed Jones.
Cody Ware has one INDYCAR start under his belt, racing earlier this year at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. In his one start, Ware started 25th and finished 19th.
With Cody continuing to build his INDYCAR experience throughout the rest of 2021, and with RWR’s NASCAR program potentially going down to a one-car team in 2022, there is an assumption that Ware could race full-time next season in the INDYCAR Series.
