Bowman Says he Needs a Successful 2020 Season to Stay in No. 88 Ride

Following a dominate performance at Auto Club Speedway on Sunday, Alex Bowman spoke to the media about the win and how this momentum will help throughout the 2020 season.

“This win is huge for me and my entire team, I know this year is a contract year for me, as is most years for me, however this is the biggest contract year I have ever been in, and need to show strong success to stay (with Hendrick Motorsports) beyond this year.” Bowman told Steve Post from the Motor Racing Network in Victory Lane.

“Last year after our first win we just fell off a cliff and were not where we needed to be for the rest of the season. We need to take this momentum from this win and continue to carry it for additional wins this season.”

In Bowman’s fifth full season in the NASCAR Cup Series he has collected two victories, eleven top 5’s and 27 top 10’s all coming from Hendrick Motorsports starting in the 2017 season. At the start of the 2020 season Bowman had limited primary sponsorship for his No. 88 Chevrolet Camaro after the departure of Nationwide Insurance following the 2019 season. Owner Rick Hendrick did business-to-business relationships with his Chevrolet Dealerships to find sponsors throughout a majority of the 2020 season.
